# Slate — AI Receptionist for Salons, Spas & Med Spas

> Slate is an AI receptionist for salons, spas, and med spas. It answers phone calls, SMS, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, web chat, and email around the clock, and books, reschedules, or cancels the appointment itself rather than taking a message. The booking calendar, payments, client records, and marketing automation it books into are part of the same platform, which is what lets the AI finish a request end to end instead of handing it off.

## Key capabilities

- **AI Receptionist**: Handles appointment booking, rescheduling, cancellations, and client questions over phone calls, SMS, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, web chat, and email — around the clock. Phone answering is included on the Pro and Enterprise plans; the messaging channels are included on every plan.
- **Online Booking**: Branded booking widget for websites and social media. Supports multi-location, multi-staff, services, classes, and add-ons.
- **POS & Payments**: Stripe-powered point-of-sale with card readers, digital receipts, tips, gift cards, and membership billing.
- **Client Management**: Full client profiles with appointment history, notes, forms, documents, and automated retention messages.
- **Marketing Automation**: SMS and email campaigns, loyalty rewards, referral programs, and review requests — all automated.
- **Staff & Payroll**: Scheduling, commissions, payroll reporting, and role-based permissions.
- **Multi-location**: Centralized management across unlimited business locations from a single dashboard.
- **Marketplace**: Businesses listed on the Slate marketplace for discovery by local clients searching for salons, spas, and medspas.
